I really like that Spike is teetering on the edge of me really not liking him at all, but then he's not quite the bastard he could be when dealing with Xan.
it's a fine edge to walk, and I'm relieved that I seem to be doing it more or less successfully :) I figured some people might not like him, but I do, for the same reasons I like canon Spike...he's not a good man, but at the heart of it, he's not a bad man either.

perhaps the jaded cynic isn't quite as hard as he sees himself.
the problem with being a cynic is that eventually something comes along that surprises you... <coughs>
