oh. my. fucking. god.
so I have this spare laptop. or rather, it's my old laptop. I decided on Friday to have a go at making it useable in the interim while my other gets fixed. it's really gimpy. so very pathetic.
and fixing this thing has consumed my life for the last three days. haha. seriously, I've spent 18 hours of intensive TLC. greedy bitch. that's including 5 hours today of deleting 54,000 (yes, really) files 10 at a time (!) until she was happy enough to take it a thousand at a time. I discovered when trying to defrag yesterday that some of the files just weren't defragging...dug around and discovered a cache folder with a whole gig of fragmented files. except when I tried to delete them all at once, she coughed up a hairball and died. not that I blame her...a gig. jesus.
but yeah, so now it works at a reasonable pace. even if it does turn itself off at random because the battery's shot (did I mention it's so old they don't make the parts anymore?), and the letters u and r only work if I concentrate and use the force.
so I'm here. sort of. dunno how much I'll actually be around cuz...still gimpy.
