the Watcher's Council (I don't get it)

you know, I consider myself an intelligent person, but there are some things in the world that just make me stare blankly and go..."I don't get it."

The Watchers' Council has always been one of those things.

ok, I mean, I get that they're a bunch of stuffy old men who are sinisterly intent on robbing young women of the birthright of their power and enslaving them for the "greater good" (you're a feminist, Joss, we get it), but the *mechanics* of everything related to the council...I'm fuzzy on.

I should probably say, I was watching Bs5 Checkpoint and I ended up thinking about this *a lot*. haha. I also may have written a fic that was Spike/Lydia the Watcher (the one who wrote her thesis on him) *shifty eyes*

so, in a fit of nostalgia for what was one of my favorite movies, I rented Jurassic Park. I *loved* this movie.

I remember in one of the sequels, though I had yet to learn the joys of slash, it was clear to me that Allen Grant and his assistant/grad student were so very gay for one another. so as I'm rewatching the original one, I'm like, hey...you know, Allen and that *mathematician* guy are kind of giving each other the eye as well.

so then out of misbegotten curiosity, I look up Jurassic Park fic.

HOLY SQUICK, BATMAN.

I have clearly been sheltered from beastiality fic, because I had an eye-bugging moment to realize most of the fic involved dinosaurs fucking various humans.

and then I looked closer and realized that most of the fic was written about the two children in the first movie. BIG FUCKING SQUICK. they're what, 9 and 12? I'm guessing. she might even be 11. it was clearly kiddie porn. I reported it, actually. we all know that I have a wiiiide tolerance for wrongness, but child pornography is just. no. nuh-uh. I can kink out over whimpering and young nubile bodies and big innocent eyes but this was clearly written by people with a dangerous social/mental illness.

ETA: I was trying to find some kind of rules (christ, is that site horribly designed) and I come across that one of the warning codes is "Minor - Minor involved (Pedophilia)". either they're equating anything under 18 with pedophilia (which is not even the legal definition of pedophilia, btw) or they are fine with this kind of fic. we'll see what they say.

but, ok I actually clicked on one of the links. it was such a flaming train wreck, I couldn't help it. I rubbernecked.

( I needed to understand how it was possible that a human-shaped person fuck a tyrannosaurus rex...come share in the absurd stupidity. bad, bad, bad fic. )
