it's possible I'm totally late to this party, but I ran across WikiMedia Commons while studying for my leukocytology exam and fuck but this would have been great to have back in the day when I needed a bunch of free distributable images for ppt's and stuff. there are even a lot of medical images, like microscope captures and stuff.
