I'm a Spander fluff whore but I'm really enjoying this. And I have taken careful note of your warnings. *g* ... I'd like to believe that Xander will come to mean something more to him than just another conquest, but then I'm very fond of la-la land. ;o) I didn't want to break anyone's heart so I just wanted to be clear that this wasn't a romance. but I think the tricks up my sleeve may not be entirely dissatisfactory to shippers (if that is vague enough, haha).
I totally get that people in the UK (or wherever you are) aren't squicked by the age in this fic. for me it rides that line, since culturally here, anything under 18 is considered still a child, in some respects. 16 is pretty much the line for me, 15 is feelin a little wrong (and oh so good, lol), and 14 is woah, step away from that baby (though I'll still read it, cuz I'm a sicko). I thought about making him 15, but that was just too young for what I have in mind. I'm not trying to scar the kid for life *g* so instead I made him barely 16 <snickers at herself>
I loved your remarks on Spike. that kind of feeling was definitely my intention. you don't *want* to like Spike, because his thought process about the whole thing is so callous, but at the same time, that same thought process is almost protective, in a way. his seduction style is calculated, but the real world manifestation is that it's *careful*, and sensitive to Xander's needs/fears. and it totally is about his ego, to leave a lasting impression, but I think there might be something else under there, a genuine desire to make it good just for the boy. dunno, maybe Spike had some kind of traumatic backstory concerning his own first time. I'm not gonna go into one, because this is just porn, but I think it might be there, underneath.
it cracked me up that you called him sweet. but not entirely unaccurate :)
