I know, I hurt everyone so badly during the course of this fic, and that actually made it difficult to write. I didn't *want* to shred all of them, except that I kinda did. I'm glad that all of the various turning points in the fic worked for you, and that you enjoyed all the power dynamics.
I didn't expect the "William" thing until it happened. and then I stared at my computer like, wtf? obviously I had drawn the parallels to Spike earlier in the fic, but I hadn't expected him to pop out like that, especially since I knew it was Darla and Dru that Angel was hunting. what I ended up concluding was that Angel was missing his family...maybe that is the day he killed Dru. I'm not sure. but obviously, he couldn't mistake xander for one of the girls, so it was William that he crawled into his little fantasy with.
