The steady:
That would be the Buffyverse. obviously.
The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp in the sheets:
erm. well. Buffy was my first fandom, but *thinks* unofficially, X-files was probably my first. we were quite fannish for that show, and my Super!Fannish friend told me once that people wrote stories about the show, and I didn't believe her. bwhahaha. recently I had a small fling with s1. it wasn't as good in bed as I'd remembered.
The one who seduced you and fucked you over and broke your heart in a million pieces and laughed about it:
um. well. me and buffyverse fandom have hit the skids a few times, but we've always managed to patch things up.
The mysterious dark gothy one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 a.m. at weird coffee houses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized he really was fucking crazy:
certain neighborhoods in the buffyverse.
The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor, and whom you'd still really like to fuck again although you're relieved he doesn't actually live in town:
Daily Show slash. yeah. really. I had a small bender. I'm better now. attending meetings.
The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with:
Pirates. It's got good technique, but not enough stamina. I need a fandom that can go all night *snicker*
The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with but ultimately you're just good buddies 'cause the friendship is there but the chemistry ain't:
I have to agree with Liz on this one...supernatural, man. I give it the eye sometimes, but I just don't feel it. it doesn't burn in my gut. I'd probably never think twice about it ficcishly if so many friends weren't into it. but I'd definitely watch it, and drool.
The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool guy except it's never really gone anywhere:
Bones. There isn't really a pairing that catches my imagination, but I enjoy the fandom.
The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at him and thinking, "Him? How the hell did he land all these cool babes?":
omg, Harry Potter. *FLAILS* EVERYONE HAS BEEN BODY-SNATCHED. I don't understand it. it's *children's* literature. and now everyone is going to try to tell me how great it is. *sticks fingers in ears* LALALALALALALALLAALALALA
The one your friend has fallen for like a ton of bricks and whom she keeps babbling to you about on the phone for hours, and you'd be happy for her except you just know it's going to end badly:
sometimes I feel this way about Supernatural. the fandom was going through its happy-happy growth phase, and now it's hit the growing pains of kerfluffledom. look out, people.
The ones you repeatedly cheat on your steady with:
Bones. Supernatural. Queer as Folk, less so. PIrates. um. a little Battlestar Galactica. I'm a whore, basically. see icon

Date: 2007-09-24 11:00 pm (UTC)I've never read any of the books. I saw the first movie, and was not amused. *washes her hands of the whole thing*

Date: 2007-09-24 08:34 pm (UTC)but hey, i have yet to read HP, so... i guess i'm not quite as profligate nor as wanton as i could be. *grins sheepishly*
this was fun to read! it's funny. just recently i was trying to figure out what i meant by 'fannish.' Because there's lots of stuff i could recite word for word, and yet i don't read fic or meta about the canon.
and then like with spn: i'm all about the rps, but not the canon style fic. mostly. it's weird. and i pretty much have way less of a stake in what happens to the characters than i do just watching teh pretty.
so what does it even mean, this word, 'fannish?' hm. yeah that's a hard one.

Date: 2007-09-24 11:05 pm (UTC)hmmm, see, I consider myself to be fannish over any show that makes me squee and obsess, even if I don't do it within a fandom. I am prone to fannish behavior with tv shows, always have been, I just thought it made me a weirdo. for example, I'm pretty fannish about BSG, but I can't be arsed to figure out the ins and outs of that fandom. it baffles me.

Date: 2007-09-24 11:18 pm (UTC)yeah, i guess it's a matter of like, whether or not you want to brave the perils of sharing the squee.
and yeah, dude. the incest. zactly. i feel like such a loser because i can't get with it. but seriously? i can't get it to jibe with what i see, so... voila, the magic of rps. *G*
i did read one wincest story that did it believably enough for me, but yeah: it was super long and knee-deep in angst, and pretty much, that's too much effort, as a fannish lifestyle, for me. but still- pretties.
and it's not that i think anyone who digs the wincest is wrong at all, it's just a thing og mine, you know. not a squick, just.... i dunno. haha. *is done thinking now.*
i'ma go open a beer and code some shit.

try imagining explaining that to anyone who has never heard of fanfic. go on. do it. :P
dude, i'm so scrambled from school today. stupid hard classes. they're turning my brain into a jello-mold with little bits of spam floating in it.

Date: 2007-09-24 11:08 pm (UTC)rater...mouse.Anyway love the meme. I've become a bit of a fic 'ho' myself. Been pimping myself out to the Buffy-verse, Queer as Folk and (insert fingers in your ears here) *whispers* Harry Potter. I'm sorry but there's no better bottom bitch than Harry.
Just thought I'd add my two cents.
