How come Wesley Clark has never been president?

no, I'm seriously asking. that wasn't a rhetorical statement of support, though I've liked him every time I've seen him appear on tv. I know he's run but never gotten the nomination. why is that? how do you think he'd have done if he *had* gotten the nom?

and while we're at it, is there some reason I *shouldn't* like him? because at first glance he seems like the traditional candidacy wet dream, and liberal to boot.

He was a favorite of a lot of people in the 2004 election cycle. I remember Joss made a campaign contribution to him. There was some gaffe he made, I can't remember now what it was, but it alienated some of his supporters. It was a more topical thing though than Howard Dean's yell, which has to have been one of the dumbest reasons ever to stop supporting a candidate.
